Thousands of 2024 Atlanta Dogwood Festival visitors met Prevent Child Abuse Georgia team members and volunteers April 12-14.
A first-ever appearance at the long-established Atlanta arts showcase made possible the new connections.
The outreach event was a hit with families and was organized under the new Celebrating Georgia Families: Be the Village framework.
According to PCA Georgia Executive Director Jennifer Stein, the festival provided a personalized way to deliver resources and information to attendees, many of whom were parents and caregivers.
“We hoped the festival would be a good fit for us,” Stein said. “We were so pleased with the response to our resource kits and the quality of the interactions with individuals.”
She said the new Strong Families, Strong Georgia coloring books were released as part of the resource kits.
PCA Georgia’s Community Sponsor booth near the Kids’ Village made it easy to connect with families. Stein said she hopes this test run of the Celebrating Georgia Families: Be the Village events will build momentum for future growth.
Two additional events in North Georgia and South Georgia will take place on April 27.
